On February 15, 2025, high school students from several Los Angeles schools participated in Transform LA, a day-long design charrette that brought environmental knowledge to life. Through lectures and hands-on model-making, students explored creative solutions for a more sustainable future.
ACLA developed Transform LA: A Sustainability Charrette to engage 10th–12th grade students in sustainability and environmental justice. Hosted at the AIA|LA / ACLA Center for Communities, this interactive event highlighted the role of architects in addressing climate change, inspiring students to explore sustainable design and empowering them to envision a more sustainable future.
Organized around the themes of Earth, Air, Fire, and Water, the charrette introduced students to key environmental topics and encouraged them to connect these concepts to their own experiences. Thanks to the generous support of sponsors, the program was offered at no cost to participants.
